Stewart Moskowitz achieved success at an early age, and the characters in his works have universal appeal. A native New Yorker, Moskowitz's first influence came from his father, a wood sculptor, who decorated his home with figurines depicting elephants, tigers, and birds.

Later Moskowitz obtained his education at Pratt Institute and the Art Students League of New York City. He went on to receive his Master's of Fine Arts Degree from the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles.

In his Master's thesis, entitled "Animals in a Children's World," Moskowitz explained that the purpose of his art was to approach his subjects with the simplicity, naivete, and curiosity of a child, coupled with the knowledge of an adult.

He wanted to reach out and touch the masses with his artwork. As a result he began printing his paintings as posters. His first works, printed in the early 1970's, "American Rabbit" and "The Corporation," were a huge success and these posters became known around the world.

His humorous fine art has been used for many advertisements, and his style is recognized around the world.
